Tiberias Attractions & Travel

The Old City

A visit to Israel's lowest city starts at the old city, with its Basalt (magma rock) covered walls and buildings. Most of Tiberias' old synagogues are located at the old city's Jewish Court. At the northernmost point of the old city lies Donna Gracia compound, a collection of historical sites and the City's historical museum.

The Archeological Park

Tiberias is rich in ancient history. The archeological park south of the city proudly displays remnants of Tiberias from the 1st century. In the park there are also music and theater shows taking place. One can find the ancient Roman Theater which includes 7000 seats on top of the Barniki Mountain edge.

Chamat Tveria National Park

In this special location one can find the remnants of the old city Chamat, which was settled from the Canaanites period until the Roman and Byzantine Empire. There are ruins of old synagogues found in the park, which includes a mosaic floor of the Wheel of the Zodiac. Also in the park are found 17 hot springs, healing springs and a bath house.
